FROM THE EDITOR:

Well, my son and I are back to schooling. Yes, we are both up to a new year of challenges. It has always been difficult for my son to focus at home since he turned thirteen. He is the youngest of four boys and has been our most outgoing of them all. When it comes to his studies, he really isn't in to it.

Last year, I discovered that we both needed something different to get through the tough subjects. Reading, writing and arithmetic needed to get done one way or another. I began thinking maybe if we went out of the house to a place that took him away from all distractions; like, television, video games, and computers.

We now go out at least twice a week to a local library. It's amazing how the right atmosphere produced conducive results. I am a happy mom again.

Being, I only have one child left, I find it much easier. It does take creativity to find what works for each of your children. It could be as simple as going out your front or backdoor. Who knows?

Ms. Hong has renewed our 11 year old daughter's interest in piano.  She had completely stopped  practicing and no longer enjoyed her lessons. Ms. Hong's genuine love for music and teaching was an immediate inspiration.  Our daughter now, not only, loves her lessons but, enjoys practicing and is making  great progress. Our 7 year old son also takes lessons from Ms. Hong. She has given him a sense of pride and he plays with a smile on his face. She has made it fun for him and he even likes to play for family and visitors. Ms. Hong is energetic and enthusiastic.  We are so blessed to have found her.
